I have an older Ford truck that needs it's gas drained as it has been sitting for a LONG time. It has dual tanks so I have no desire to drop the tanks to empty them. Does anybody have an electric pump that can siphon gas? I can come up with the hoses, but need a pump. I have tried a hand (squeeze-bulb) pump but it doesn't create enough suction to get it started. I would like to just borrow the pump if possible (a rental fee is cool), but might buy it if that's the only option. Please let me know if you have anything that may help. Thanx!! ;D

Is it an elec. fuel pump that is actually made to be mounted on a vehicle? Does is run off a 12v system or does it plug in? A regular vehicle fuel pump might take hours to drain a tank, but I'm willing to try it if it works fine (and if you aren't worried about burning it up). I could hook it up to the tanks fuel lines (where I installed the new fuel filter) if need be. I have drums for the fuel too. Let me know what type of pump it is and what it runs off of.

The hose/suck method doesn't work cuz the amount of fuel to be drained will need a barrel to catch....and the level of the fuel in the barrel will be higher than the gas tanks right away...meaning the fuel will not drain out anymore. *The gas being drained has to remain higher than the container catching it or it will not drain. Therefore I would have to: A-keep filling a little container.stop the drain, empty little container, restart the hose, repeat, repeat, repeat OR B-use a pump and drain it into any size/height container until it's done I like option B. If I could make the gas taste like a cheeseburger....I know my buddy UBN would have it drained in 3-4 minutes. Grizz, could I borrow your pump? I can run it off a battery charger and I'll get all the hoses/fittings I need. If I can borrow it, could you bring it to the meeting Thursday? I'd appreciate it. Thanks everybody!!

:you could have someone who is really good at sucking gas through a long hose. I hear ubnpast has some really good experience at that... I would do it, but I only put my lips on my own hose. I will bring it over if you want.

Thanks for letting me borrow the pump Grizz!! It worked very well and had both tanks drained in acouple hours. Hopefully I will get the truck gassed up with new fuel and tearing up the pavement again. BTW, if anybody needs a 1982 Ford F150 XLT Lariat Ext. cab 2WD w/ a 351ci.(plus fiberglass topper)........let me know! It is in amazing shape inside and out. Would also trade for a 3 or 4 wheeler. Thanks again Grizz!!
