Good News Everybody!! We are registered for the LeClaire Tugfest parade on Friday August 10th. The parade starts at 6:00PM.
Here's the details:
- I registered us for approximately 20 ATV's. We won't turn anyone away but that is based on past participation.
- This is a unique opportunity because we are allowed to ride our own ATV's in the parade.
- We will stage at 5:20PM on the grassy hill north of the McDonalds that is on the frontage road near the int of Hwy 67 and I-80.
- Bring your own candy to throw.
- No wheelies or irresponsible riding at all. That is a directive of the parade coordinator and the club in general.
- Everyone must wear helmets and long pants that are riding ATV's.
- We will need 2 volunteers to walk carrying a club banner in front of the group.
- This will not be a points event because it is short notice and was not on the postcard.
Post here if you can make it or have questions. We did this in 05 and it was a really good time, and a good showing for the club.

Weck, what are the riding guidelines for the parade? Being it is a slow-speed fun event, could we have a child ride with us on a big utility (and the lil one could throw candy)? Will there be any DNR-type restrictions on age and what cc's they could drive in the parade? Here's my possible intentions: I would like to have Austin ride his new Grizzly 125 alone (but he isn't the right age for 125cc) and I would like to have my 4 year-old daughter ride with me on the Sportsman 600. Would this be ok? It sounds like a great time and I know my kids would be WILDLY HAPPY to get to be IN the parade!!

This presents a small conflict in MYopinion! While it is important to uphold and represent the family friendly aspect of the club. I feel it is also important to practice what we preach and that is to ride our machines under the appropriate and legal guidelines.
Low speeds in a parade would not likely be detremental to a child riding with a parent, but we must also be aware of any critical eyes out there that may judge it as inappropriate.
wait4me, I think you pose a great question and I personally think it would be harmless, but its also a good idea to be careful in the public eye. Please do not take this as an answer or critisizm, just MY perception.
Perhaps there are parade guidelines that will answer it for you, needless to say I would wait for Wecks reply, if there is no written parade rule this may be a great question to bring up at the meeting as well.
Weck... so far as the banner, I am still in the development process and trying to meet the printers requirements. Basically I cant promise, but I'll try!

I think Austin riding his is totally fine because the quad seems sized right for him, but I don't think your daughter should ride two-up with you only because of the public perception that X described. As an alternative could you make a simple float out of a small trailer and tow it with your quad so she can still be in the parade, throw candy etc.
I can't imagine any DNR involvment or cc limitations, just kids on kids quads, etc...
I want everyone included that wants to be, but its also a public relations showing.
I will add to the guidelines above that everyone will have to wear helmets and long pants. I forgot that the first time.

It is sitting at Qdocs but I need some money! Sarah just started a full time job on Monday so it is starting to look good again. I am trying to sell my 55gal Fish Tank right now to pay for the parts. I hope to have it running by the Atkision ride.

Would Triple E be willing to put a sidexside in the parade and let us drive it? That way I can take my daughter with me, and be legal....and advertise for Triple E/2 Rivers!!!!! It would only be a few miles of use at slow speed, and I would even haul it round trip, but would need their sign for advertising on the actual machine. Weck, can I have the ok to call them about this idea and say it's with the club's approval? Would you rather ask so it's more legit as a club request? Or is the idea just a bad one? I could also talk to Joe at Pinnacle about a 2up Sportsman if you say it's cool to ask as a club request. Please let me know and I will try to get a 2 seater of some sort so I can take my lil Angel!!! Thanks.

I am okay with the UTV idea as long as you are 100% responsible for it. You would probably have the best luck calling Joe at Pinnicle if you have a relationship going there.
This would be a great ice breaker to start your Presidential run for 08.
**This is the only Dealer Involvment we will have for this event.**

This would be a great ice breaker to start your Presidential run for 08. I have no problem being fully responsible for the 2-seater, I just wanted to be able to say the 2 Rivers Club (board) is ok with this as an official request for our entry into the parade. I'll talk to Joe and start there. Weck, you just had to take the shot, didn't you? I have no desire to be president!! I am not a peacekeeper, and my convictions are too opinionated to keep things mellow and on an even keel. Would I be on the board at all??? That would take some thinking about, as I do believe I can be a great help and have lots of ideas and motivation......but I am not the head of the dragon, usually just it's fiery breath. Plus, if I was the president, who the heck would I B_tch about ? HAHAHA HAHAHAHA
