The second ride for December has been changed due to a park closure. It will be on Saturday, 12/30/06 to Sandy Oaks near Keithsburg, IL. The convoy will depart from Denny's (Southpark Mall) at 8am. The ride will go on, rain, sleet, or snow... Have a Merry Christmas. the Quad Doctor 563-320-QDoc (7362)

QDoc and other members, I am sorry for being the clueless newbie here but I was wondering if the club rides could include any/all info for what that riding spot requires to ride there. My big questions are things like: Can 10 year olds ride? Do we need current registration stickers? Do we need whip flags? Are there exhaust restrictions? After attending my first meeting last night (It was great to join in Dec. so we can start the new year off as a member!), I heard Dave and Mothership talking about these type of restrictions. I would hate to go to a park with my family and have to turn around and go home, or be told my boy wasn't allowed to ride. Again, I am sorry to be a pain, but all the rules with each ride location would sure give me piece-of-mind. Thank you in advance for any help. Take care.

wait4me, that's a good question and point... Typically at the meetings we try to cover all the restrictions and rules and regulations so everybody is aware but sometimes I think it is taken for granted since alot of members have been to alot of the parks and know all the rules.
Here's what I know about Keithsburg;
It is a private landowner that owns it and it is not per say labeled as an actual park.
There are WFO Hare Scramble Races held there on occasion.
No registration is required to ride there, it is a pay to play park and the fee is $5.00 which last time I was there was on the honor system.
No flags are required and I am uncertain about any noise restrictions, I would venture to say there are none since they host races there. But someone else will have to verify that.
I believe helmets are required and the landowner does not allow anyone to ride after dark. Primitive camping is also available onsite but I believe you must clear it through the owner first.
If you are looking for mud there is none there is a reason they call it Sandy Oaks, and everywhere you go there are whoops with only a few exceptions.
Perhaps someone else can chime in if I missed anything, It's a fun place at a great price, definately check it out if you can!
Matt

Were you thinking about fellow 350X riders X-man? difi-NATE-ly... This would be a great place for the 3-wheeler crowd to get their machines out of storage. Not to mention an opportunity for the paddle-tire equipped people to pull the tires off the shelf & mount them on their machines for a day-trip. ;D I've ridden there on paddles before and it was F-U-N to send that 20-30 foot roost behind you as you ride. I just feel sorry for Weck when everybody passes him as he's riding at his "race" speed & gets stuck on a log. ******************* Looks like you covered most of the bases X. The whoops can be a little rough on us "old-timers", but the kids quads do great on them because the spacing is just right to make them ride like a roller coaster. ;D As far as I know, helmets are the only restriction. Age has not been a concern in years past, nor has sound limits or flags. The area consist of a Sand motocross track surrounded by numerous trails through the trees. To be up front, you WILL get a workout if you try to run fast, but the kids will enjoy the park on their down-sized quads. There is limited parking back at the track near the podium.

She's right! We should post it on here each time, especially since not everyone can make it to the meetings, and there are new people looking at the website all the time!

I plan on making this ride, along with my boy. If we can get Grandma to babysit, then my girl Amy will make 3. I am also trying to pressure a coworker to bring his racingtank (700 VForce Kawi) and join us. I can't wait to meet more folks and ride a new place.

Is anybody going to Keithsburg on 3 wheels or with paddle tires?
Until then, "Doc"

Paddles aren't gonna make you any faster. The whoops will paddle your butt enough.

Doc, Bring your paddled 250R on Saturday. I missed most of the entertainment in 06 with you aboard that ride...
