Even though I showed up an hour late for the Credit Is. Icecapades, I was there and riding. As my first ride on LARGE expanses of ice, it was crazy fun with a hint of anxious worry. I know it was ridiculously cold but you can't help but wonder.......is this spot going to break? There were no problems with the ice and the quads all ran 'til we quit. I believe there were 5-6 members present to brave the -25 wind chills across the frozen water.
The trail riding was my favorite and I kept up very well but due to the snow/ice, the pace wasn't all that fast. Personally, I was happy to see the Polaris name being the dominant quad out there, but as they claim, they are the toughest quad on Earth!! Kawi and Honda did join the troop.....but Yamaha/Suzy/Arctic Kitty decided to stay at home. hahaha
Overall, I really enjoyed the ice ride and my warm gear proved to work superb so the Pope Creek Race won't be a problem as far as temperature goes. Also, my TBlazer ran like a champ the entire time and begged to go faster. Unfortunately, the powerband of the new exhaust made me lose traction on the "high-speed" ice runs right when I was getting my MPH's up.....so I was able to enjoy a very lonnnggggg, slow-motion but high-speed 360 that reminded me to be thankful that ice is smooth. Hitting anything sideways at about 30 MPH would sure make for a bad day!!
I wanted to say Thanks to QDoc for taking the time to show me some gear, and for showing me how to traverse a large log ( ). Also to the ride host (I didn't get your name) for taking me out to show me around when everyone else warmed up. Finally to the guy I was talking to at my truck (you read this but don't talk you said) who was on one of the Scramblers, it was nice to meet you and hopefully we can talk again.
UBN!!!!! You disappointed me.... I thought you wanted to test the studded tires?! Catch ya next time.
