Hey guys I don't know if this is the place for this thread. Jason (cumminsman on the forum) have been planning a trip to WV since October last year. We're going the week of June 9th through the 15th, with 5 people thus far and would welcome more company but as of right now our trailer will be packed full.
I suppose the point of this thread is help and opinions from your experiences down there. We are looking at staying at a hotel by the rockhouse trail for 3 days and then load up and move to another hotel with different attaching trail systems. We noticed in the club photos that you stayed in the cabins and we were wondering if those were decently priced, which ones they were.
Do you have any advice as far as trails we -MUST- see, things we should check out, places to stay/dine etc.
We are both new here and I'm sure Jason will ask for the same input at the meetings.
I appreciate the help!

Riding down in WV was amazing. We stayed at Ashland Resort. The nice thing about this campground was that it was connected to the Indian Ridge trail system. Which is also connected to two other trail systems. It does take a while to get to the other systems from where the Ashland resort is but I really enjoyed the Indian Ridge trails. I think to get the prices for Ashland you can go to ATVRestort.com. There is so much to do down there it would be impossible to see everything in just a week. The trails are maintained well, and you can get to a lot of places right from the trails.
I would say that the one thing that would keep me from going back is the distance from here. It took us probably 15 hrs to get down there. We had to make a couple of unexpected stops on the way but it's really far. Also make sure your quad is ready for a lot of riding. I waited to do a few maintenance things with my quad and ended up having to take care of them while down there. Bring spare parts for anything you think you may break as well. I will say that the mechanics that I dealt with down there were amazing, and bent over backwards to help me.

I will check out the Ashland resort, there are so many trail systems that very so much how did you all choose the Indian Ridge trail over the others? We like technical woods riding and a good mud pit. The 4 atv wide "quad highways" not so much.
We are going to do our best to bring items for just in case but the things you don't plan for are usually the ones that happen. The drive will be long but I'm hoping the initial excitement will shorten the drive out, the drive backand the realization that vacation is over will be the worst.
Thanks for the info!

I would go back to Ashland Resort in a heartbeat. Had my best riding experience out there. Kind of like going skiing in Colorado and then having only snowstar when you get home. I don't remember where we went on our last day there, but had to load up the quads to get there. I do not recommend the trails there. Movingman or punchy could probably tell you the name.

Jason/Cumminsman emailed them and I guess they are completely booked for the week we were planning so unless we could find some great alternative cabins around the same pricing we're probably back to the original hotel plans unfortunately.
I might have to do some exploring of websites and forums again, it's hard to flip through the resort pages and wonder if the place is *really* any good and so much easier just to talk to people who have been there and talked to others that are staying in other places there or are a heck of a lot better researching it then I am!

There was a restaurant in town that had rooms above it. I cannot remember the name of the restaurant but it was where I got that large burger. I think punchy might have a photo of the front of the place. They had multiple rooms upstairs and the restaurant area was really clean. There rates were pretty good from what I remember. If I think of it I will let you know.
