During some creek riding It seemed that my drive belt was slipping so I figured the cover gasket was bad. When I pulled the cover off sure enough there was a chunk out of it , with a new gasket it should take care of that issue. I also noticed that the belt on the driven pulley was sitting slightly above the OD of the pulley. Thinking back to my snowmobile days (if I remember correctly) on the initial setup the belt should sit flush with the OD of pulley true? How far can the belt be above the pulley and still be OK? For a can-am does it take shims to set it up correctly? Do I need any special tools to set it up?

i know on my bike the belt sits a little above the OD of the pulley. I would look it up in the owners manual. i found this video: At about 4 min he talks about it sticking up

thanks for that info gotta love Utube from what he said the belt should be about 1/4" above mines about 1/32" above sounds like its time for a new belt. ( I think that robs a little from bottom end) I would love to be able to check the owners manual but didn't get one from the previous owner as time goes on I hope to get one as well as a service manual

From what I could tell with that type of setup you will need to measure the width of your belt to determine if it needs to be replaced.
