There was a guy with us, at the badlands, that had one. He looked like he was having a lot of fun. A few times he had to go another route because of low hanging branches or tight spaces in the woods, but it didn't slow him down much. I think that the Iowa parks allow side-by-sides now but they have to be under a certain width.

Side-by-sides are only allowed in three parks in IA. I found this in an article: The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will open three designated Off Highway Vehicle parks for use by Off-Road Utility Vehicles (ORVs) beginning at sunrise on October 30. The parks are Nicholson Ford in Marshall County, Lakeview OHV park in Johnson County, and Tama OHV park in Tama County.

I own Smurfwood Trails. I have found that the side-sides do good on strait trails . but on trails like ours where the turns are tight. people get tired of backing up to complete ther turns. so then they start taking short cuts. which is breaking the rules. they seam to track differant than atv's. this gives the tires more changes to get traction. they are a pregnant dog to clean up.
