Sorry for asking guys.
But me and my buddy seriously can't get Banshee to ever run right.
we get to idol low, but then after riding for a bit. then it goes up really high and drives by its self..
Not safe!!
We need some help. Neither one of us know a thing about 2 strokes.

a banshee driving by itself could be a very dangerous ride..... i had this problem with my mojave and learned the throttle cable needed lubed and it only did it when it warmed up. I think it probally is the carb, maybe the float is sticking? next time it does it try tapping on the carb and see if the rpm's drop again.. carbs are kind out of my league though so don't bet on my advice...

Yes it is.
Well we've adjusted everything. and had it refloated 2. and still wont do the trick.
well i'd have to tap on both carbs. Cause its a twin.

I am out of town this week for work, but we could get together some night next week to check it out. I have done a pretty detailed restore on a banshee and know them pretty well. I am still thinking you have an air leak that happens when some part of the engine expands due to a normal rise in operating temp. I miss the ole Banshee Check out the old school J-Arms up front. This is an 89.

Weck that sounds perfect. cause my buddy is going out of town this weekend hisself.
We can set a time when ya get back if you can?
the air leak.. could that be causing it to shoot to really high rpms?

Yes, when you lean out any motor the RPM's will shoot up but it is also bad on the motor because in the case of a two-stroke there is less oil going in to lube the crank and cylinders and less gas going in to cool the piston.
First thing we will check is the carb boots on the motor side of the carbs and then re-torque all of the head and cylinder nuts. If that is not it, and there is nothing else obvious the next step is something called a leak down test where you either put a vacuum or positive pressure in the motor to see if it holds. (Tests gaskets & seals). If it is the crank seals I may have to refer you to someone a little higher up on the mechanical scale. I don't have to tools to do a leak down test but you can pay a shop to do something like that. Search leak down test on either bluetraxx.com or bansheehq.com forums.
Later Weck

It sure could have a little to do with it. Are the exhaust seals blown out? Should have some type of seal between the head pipes and the cylinder. A Two strokes "reclaims" use of spent fuel/air from the pipes. It could be sucking air in there if it is dripping like you say. Sounds like this quad is running lean for sure. There are numerous possiblities as Weck has mentioned that could contribute to this. Does this have the TORS installed? look around www.bansheehq.com/

Where was it leaking oil? At the header to cylinder or at the silencer tip. Ubn is right there is an o-ring that goes in the head pipe. It could definitly be sucking air there.
TORS is throttle over ride system. It is the mechanical things on top of the carbs. On banshees 3 yrs old or older it is best to unplug the TORS system underneath the left hand side of the gas tank (left side as you are sitting on it.)
Is this Banshee stock or got aftermarket pipes etc.?
What premix oil and ratio does this guy use. I always used yamalube 2R at 32:1.

its comming out of the back pipe.
i think im gonna have him order all new seals for the pipes. Umm im not sure about the TORS.. i never heard of a such thing.
Its all stock basically, except wheels. and has a V-force installed thing in the carbs installed.
Like i said i know nothing about 2 strokes..
About ready to have him just rebuild it from ground up. Cause then he'd know more about the Da*n thing.

Check out this address it'll give you the info. www.tricitym-c.com/membership.htmThe family and I love this place, we don't race there but we sure love the jumping. There are some pretty descent trails and hills there also, but is really all about the track. If the weather is good me and christoph73 are going to try to get out there this weekend.
