Congrats on the win Fastcat, you deserve that first place trophy just for braving that nasty heat. Sounds like Turbo is getting more comfortable on his new Honda, I knew that Yamaha was holding him back! Doesnt sound good for the Kitty, hope shes not too sick .....was it muddy at all or did they miss the monsoon there???

I think Turbo at one time yesterday was wishing he had the Yammie back at his stable, But thats a story for him to tell. I would have to assume he is getting tired of the bars being pulled out of his hands because of the power difference.

I was thinking it was the reverse-capabilities that Weck missed. When faced with a log-strewn path, that reverse gear would of made the turn-around alot easier. Great job on the track everybody, and a 1st is a 1st FastCat !!! Showing up is half the battle.

Well there's not much of a story, I think what he's talking about is before the start of the race all of the quads were lined up and the riders were talking together etc... It looks like we are gonna get started so I hop on to fire it up and get ready. Well I kick and kick about 20 times checking the switches, choke, etc... Dave just happens to walk up wanting me to sign his hat or something and says, "ya might wanna check that kill switch Jr." So I plug in and the R comes to life right away. I guess a grounded coil is about the only thing that will keep a Honda down. I had an ok start. I practiced some with Ubn's help last week and this race start was about the same distance that we practiced with a drag race to some hay bails then a hard right and into the trail. Well I think I am not getting the hot start fully depress before hitting the kick starter so it lit on the second kick but I was still mid-pack through the bails. Like always I have excuses. First, the C+ class was the first row to go off. That helped with the dust but was in my head about other riders coming through on the first lap. etc, etc... The track was great, not as rough as last year. Some of the straightaways last year were so bumpy you could hardly do 3rd gear across it. This year after the first lap there were several spots you could hit 5th gear wide open for a long ways. I made a few passes in the straights there that were pretty sweet. I have been practicing my cornering around trees and stuff and it would have been great to use that here. It seemed like everytime there was a direction change it was never on level ground. I ran 5th for the first 3 laps then gave up two spots on the 4th lap. At the end of three there were 40 minutes left so I knew I would come around to the check point a few minutes short of being done so I tried to keep a good pace going but the heat was getting to me. I finished the 4th lap with 10 minutes showing on the board so I took off for the 5th and again tried to keep an even pace. At the last race I lost a spot in the last 400 yards so did'nt want that to happen again. I was looking for the 6th place bike that whole lap but ended up about 45 seconds behind him at the end. My total ride time was about 2:20. I was pretty spent but recovered quicker than at Waukon. I am not getting the cardio work outs I used to so I need to step up my training program a little... I think there were 15 quads in the C+ class which was again smaller than last year, but top to bottom all riders are relatively close in speed so that makes it competitive. Looking forward to Mt Pleasent in a month. That was voted the series most favorite track last year and it got my vote too. Its only 90 minutes from the QC.
