Thats basically it. In past years it has included about half of the motocross track and then into the woods on both sides of the mx track. Its about a 2 mile loop total. The mx jumps can easily be rolled over. Its free to get in so if your on the fence about it bring your quad, check out the course / weather and decide there.
The toughest thing about this race is that the quads run after the bikes so some of the hills will be tough to climb because the frozen ground will be polished to pure ice. Alternate routes will develop quickly around the tough spots.
Its a good way to get that rush off the line though.

Hello
This sounds like alot of fun.
I haven't ever raced before but maybe I can start.
Would this be a race to try for a first time racer.
Don't want to make a fool of myself.
Any more than I already do.

I think the frozen toe is a good first race. The only draw back is that some of the uphill sections that would be simple in the summer get pretty tricky when frozen. If your a confident rider go ahead and give it a try. The worst that can happen is that you find out its not for you and you put on the trailer after 1 lap...
Give it a try.....

Utilty quads have a clear advantage on the slick uphill sections. You'll probably do better than the non-studded sport quads w/ some aggressive riding! Joel Ballenger has been racing his sport-utility V-twins out there for a couple years now. ;D I plan to make a showing, but may be a DNF if I can't make the slick uphills w/ only 2wd. I won't find out until race day... ************************ [glow=red,2,300]JAMIE,[/glow] Quick question??? $25 to race as a non-member. Does that mean their club members race for free??? If so, what does an annual membership cost for the Coal valley club?

I think it means their club members race free, but not sure. The 25 bucks covers a one day membership, probably for insurance reasons. I think they treat this like a fund raiser as much as anything. The membership dues for Tri-City motorcycle club is 150 per year, but that includes a key to the track so you can ride anytime. They use to have a stipulation that you had to own a motorcycle too and not only an ATV, but I think that is loosely enforced.
You might call Dave at Sun Cycle prior to showing up with the R to make sure they will allow a 3-wheeler. Just race the BRP....

I called Sun Cycle yesterday & the race has been postponed until Feb. 12th. due to this warm weather. They want it to be a frozen toe, not a pudding slop toe so they're hoping for colder weather by then. I also asked about Tri-city members. If you are a member of the Tri-City MCY club then ;DYES ;D, you do get to race for FREE I know that we have some club members who belong to the club so there you go... Later, "Doc" ps They said they have no problems w/ 3-wheelers entering so this'd be a race for the X-Man! pps I'm still up in the air, but if you can guarantee me an "X" in the race, then I suppose I can talk momma into letting me bring the "R" out of storage for a showing. What's it gonna be "X-man"?

Its starting to look like the winter weather will cooperate with this year's frozen toe. No official word yet but it could freeze up enough to have the race by the weekend. I will post here with what I find out later this week.....
