[glow=blue,5,300]Here is your early invitation to the 2nd Annual Two Rivers ATV Club Quad Olympics to be held Saturday May 20th.
This year's event will be at Ken Hansen's Hollow near Spraqueville IA. This is Ken's private farm and ATV testing ground. It is about 45 minutes from the QCA.
Ken's property has a large open pasture, and some challenging trails through the woods.
The event will be in a similar format as 2005, so look forward to some fun but challenging contests and plenty of great food.
I need two other people to assist in the planning of this event. Please post here if you are available.
Stay tuned for more details as the date gets closer. This will be the second ride of the month and will be a points ride.
Thanks Jamie[/glow]

I was thinking of buying Poison Ivy's 185s and holding a wheelie contest on that were everyone takes a turn on it. Maybe I will ask what kinda of financing options she has....hahaha

I can assist with planning if you still need someone.
Contest ideas (some repeats from last year)? - Poker run - mud bog - water balloon relay - drag race, side by side or for time only - fastest quad - hill climb/obstacle crawl - timed obstacle course - "around the bean field" race - muddiest quad - longest wheelie - longest airborne off a ramp - 60 second free style display - "pit crew events"... timed tire change, ? I'll think of more after I finish my coffee. Some of these ideas may be too dangerous for a family event?

Hey Baja you're in.
2,3,4 & 8 are all good possibilities. I like the freestyle idea too, we may have to put some thought into that. The only thing is, this probably should be a relatively low speed event.
I am thinking of leaving the poker run event out this year, anybody have any feedback on that? There is probably only time for 4 events based on last years participation.
You know what would be cool though is if we could take a piece of plywood complete with braceing and lean it against the hood of IBNPAST's truck to see who could clear the bed. Now that sounds like a challenge.
No Worries Mate your comprehensive insurance should cover it......

I like 12 also. The plywood against my truck idea.....I've done that with my loading ramps before. Not a big deal for the ole Honda.
You're from IOWA, not down under, so don't call me Mate.

Weck - if there's anything I can help with, please let me know. I'd love to help. I have no experience in planning something like this, but I take orders well.

Angie, Today is your lucky day. You can round out the 3 person committee to put on this gig. You, Dennis Schmidt and myself will maybe get a conference call together later this month to kick off what we think we ought to do. Along with Kenny Hanson as the Land Manager and John Skornia as the Grill Master this is sure to top last years event. Our first order of business is to start generating some excitement about this years events. Angie, how are you with creating some type of flyer for the event that we could hand out at the next meeting for people to put on their fridge. Could you come up with something simple that I could photocopy and pass out at the next monthly meeting. We will decide what challenges will be at this year's Olympics later during our conference call and you could fill them in later. So a rough draft in the next few weeks would be great. Thanks Jamie

Sure. I can do flyers. I should be able to start on a draft next week. I'm going to be out of town 2/7 - 2/12, but always have my cell phone and am never far from a computer.

Expanding on the ideas a bit how about a variation on the wheelie contest.
What about longest (as in time)slow wheelie.
Anyone can do power wheelies by using the motors power to keep the front end up, but (in my opinion) the true mark of a wheelie master is being able to bring the front end up from a dead stop and keep it there while relying on slow acceleration, balance, and braking to maintain the wheelie. Of course this would be a low speed event so injury risk would be low and space needed would be minimal. Not to mention it could make for some entertaining low speed tip backs.
Maybe the rule could be you can use 1st and 2nd gear only or something of the sort.
Just a thought.
